Fresh off her Gold medal performance at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, Dejanea Oakley explained that she’s still getting accustomed to being a professional athlete.

Oakley posted 50.21 seconds to win gold in the women’s 400-metres final at the Commonwealth Games.

The 22-year-old also produced one of the greats anchor legs in Commonwealth Games history to take Jamaica to gold in the mixed 4-by-400 metres relay.

She told Leighton Levy on the Mr. Analyst Podcast, that she’s prepared to be patient in this transitional phase. 

The former Clarendon College standout was also impressive during her collegiate years at the University of Texas and University of Georgia. 

Oakley who ran a 48.79 seconds to smashed the Women’s collegiate record during her stint with the Georgia Bulldogs, says she’ll continue honing her craft under the guidance of coaches Carol Cooper and Karreem Streete-Thompson.
