A movie theater didn’t get ‘Spider-Man’ posters. This employee drew his own

With great power comes great responsibility — and apparently a box of crayons.

A movie theater didn’t get promotional materials for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” So an employee took things into his own hands.

Drake Landon is an employee at Famous Players theater in Prince George, British Columbia.

His hand-drawn movie poster for the new Spider-Man blockbuster has become an online sensation.

Inspired by the Spooderman meme, the poster depicts — forgive us, Drake — a poorly drawn Spider-Man with the movie title hand-drawn in the background. An inscription reads “Sorry! We never recieved the real posters! Sorry for any inconviniences!” The spelling errors seem intentional, adding to its viral appeal.

Moviegoers have snapped photos of Drake’s hand-drawn poster, which have received worldwide recognition. A Reddit post featuring the poster has received more than 54,000 upvotes.

Some are even making a pilgrimage to the movie theater to see the poster in person, including Adam Woodrow and his son Rogan, who shared the below photo of the artist and his creation.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has become one of the biggest blockbusters in history.

The Sony-Marvel release has accrued $1.67 billion worldwide in just 10 days of release. Domestically, no movie has wracked up a higher total faster. In U.S. and Canadian cinemas, “Brand New Day” has grossed $655.1 million thus far. Overseas, it’s already surpassed $1 billion.

And yet, somehow, one of the movie’s biggest stars may be hanging on a wall in British Columbia.
