Iowa weather: Rain winds down tonight with isolated chances Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa —

We will continue with a weather pattern that favors overnight and morning storms into the weekend.

The Flood Watch and flash flooding potential will persist into Saturday and potentially into Sunday.

Storms producing heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible and could lead to 1 to 3 inches or more in some areas. Flash flooding and river and creek flooding could become more of an issue across parts of the state, especially central and southern Iowa.

We will finally catch a break as a ridge of high pressure takes over at the start of next week. The dry weather will not last long, with more storm chances returning midweek.
