No notice was given ahead of the demolition exercise carried out in Coopers Pen, Trelawny, earlier on Tuesday.

That’s according to Member of Parliament for North Trelawny, Tova Hamilton.

More than 30 households have been displaced.

Several families in Coopers Pen are now homeless.

In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, their homes became rubble as a tractor demolished the structures.

In videos circulating on social media, household items, including beds, fans, and stoves, are seen scattered across the area.

Member of Parliament for the area, Tova Hamilton, says over thirty households were displaced with no prior notice.

Nationwide News understands the occupants were on the land illegally.

Hamilton says documents show that land is owned by New Falmouth Resorts Limited.

MP Hamilton says the government is making arrangements to put temporary relief efforts in place for displaced families.
