“I extend my congratulations to Abelardo de la Espriella on assuming the Presidency of Colombia,” Fujimori stated in her message.
“On behalf of the Peruvian people, I wish him success in this new stage and trust that we will be able to strengthen the friendship and cooperation bonds that have always united our nations,” she pointed out.
De la Espriella took office as Colombia’s President in the city of Cali on Friday.
Peru’s Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Espa attended the ceremony, representing the Head of State.
King Felipe VI of Spain attended the inauguration, along with Presidents Javier Milei (Argentina), Santiago Peña (Paraguay), Laura Fernandez (Costa Rica), Daniel Noboa (Ecuador), Raul Mulino (Panama), Luis Abinader (Dominican Republic), Jose Antonio Kast (Chile), and Nasry Asfura (Honduras), as well as other international dignitaries.
