United States Olympic gymnast Simone Biles learned about the meaning and purpose of Marca Peru (Peru Brand) as part of activities marking the countdown to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Likewise, the distinguished guest highlighted the beauty of the Sacred Valley, as well as Peru’s history and culture, following her visit to Cusco.
PromPeru Executive President Teresa Mera received the Olympic champion at the institution’s headquarters in Lima to introduce her to the Peru Brand and welcome her to the country.
The meeting was part of the activities for the “One Year To Go” event, which kicks off the countdown to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
During the meeting, the government official, representing Foreign Trade Minister Rogers Valencia, thanked the high-performance athlete for joining this important event.
She said that Biles’ example of effort and excellence is an inspiration to younger generations.
Mera underscored that PromPeru promotes various initiatives related to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
These initiatives aim to project Peru to the world.
Furthermore, she introduced the athlete to the meaning of the Peru Brand through various gifts.
The brand is a symbol of identity, pride, and confidence that represents the best of the country to the world.
It is worth noting that for the past 15 years, this emblem has promoted Peru’s cultural wealth, biodiversity, gastronomy, creativity, and talent, strengthening the nation’s reputation and boosting tourism, exports, and investment.
“PromPeru works to project a positive and authentic image of Peru while strengthening Peruvians’ pride in their identity. Simone Biles’ story reflects universal values such as effort, perseverance, and excellence, which also inspire younger generations,” Mera stated.
The PromPeru head invited the Olympic champion to continue discovering Peru’s diversity, its cultural wealth, renowned cuisine, and the warmth of its people.

A future visit to Machu Picchu, one of Peru’s main tourist attractions, is still pending.
During the press conference held at PromPeru’s facilities, the U.S. gymnast highlighted her experience in Peru, saying: “The Sacred Valley is beautiful, and I have had a wonderful time in Cusco. The views are incredible; I have also learned about the history and culture of this country.”
