The best chance for rain this afternoon and evening will be south of I-80 and in the eastern half of the state, with isolated showers possible along the I-80 corridor. The main threat will be heavy rain,

Rainfall rates for some areas south of Interstate 80 and in the eastern half of the state could exceed an inch per hour, which could cause travel issues and isolated flooding in low-lyig areas.

The town of Murray is reporting more than 5 inches of rain and other areas, including Osceola, Creston and Atlantic, have picked up over 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours.

The rain will taper off statewide this evening and overnight. Skies will clear, and temperatures will drop into the upper 50s and low 60s. This will create the potential for dense fog Thursday morning. Plan for a potentially slower morning commute. The fog will clear by the afternoon, making for a very comfortable day.

Temperatures will begin climbing again toward the end of the week and into the weekend. There will be a chance for spotty showers and storms Friday afternoon. Highs will climb back into the mid to upper 80s this weekend, with 90s possible next week.
