Public affairs commentator, Dr. Henley Morgan, says US President Donald Trump has shown his tendency to appoint people unqualified for important roles.

He was reacting to comments from former US Ambassador to Jamaica, Donald Tapia about Trump’s nominee for the role, Kari Lake.

According to Tapia, Lake’s track record in public service doesn’t bode well for Jamaica. He believes her appointment could ruin Jamaica’s relationship with the US.

Tapia says Jamaica should not to trust the ambassador-designate.

Lake has publicly stated she intends to strengthen the US’ security cooperation with Jamaica and weaken China’s growing economic influence in the Caribbean.

These were among the priorities she outlined during a confirmation hearing before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee in June.
