Body of missing St Elizabeth woman recovered

The body of a St. Elizabeth woman, whose disappearance sparked a frantic search and mob unrest, has been recovered from the Black River in Lacovia.

She is 50-year-old Nicole Brown, otherwise called ‘Nicky.

Her body was retrieved from the river on Tuesday following an all-day search by police, other emergency personnel and community members.

Operations Officer for the St. Elizabeth Police, Deputy Superintendent Owen Brown, confirmed the development with our news team.

DSP Brown says preliminary investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Brown had been reported missing after she was last seen on Sunday.

Relatives became concerned when she failed to return home on Monday and made checks to locate her husband.

The incident triggered tension in Barton Wharf, Lacovia, where residents reportedly confronted the woman’s spouse Monday night, accusing him of killing Brown and dumping her body in the river.

Police intervened and rescued the man from the mob.

He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
