NEWBURY, Vt. — Vermont State Police is investigating an incident involving a man who was shot and injured on Jefferson Hill Road on Sunday afternoon.
Police’s initial investigation found that the man was shot in the roadway at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, according to a VSP news release.
The Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team then airlifted the man to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon where he received treatment for his injuries, the extent of which are unknown, the VSP release said.
The roadway was closed while authorities responded to the incident.
Police are withholding the identity of the injured man while the investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
“VSP believes this was an isolated incident involving individuals who knew each other, and there is no identified threat to the community at large,” the release said.
