China Condemns Attack on Chinese-Linked Project in Kuwait

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kuwait has strongly condemned an attack that claimed the life of a Nepali national working on a project being carried out by a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, while renewing its call for an immediate end to hostilities and a return to dialogue. In a statement issued in response to media reports, the embassy clarified that the attack did not directly target a Chinese company building, but rather struck a vehicle belonging to a Kuwaiti subcontractor engaged in a project being executed by a Chinese firm.

According to the embassy, the incident resulted in the death of the vehicle’s driver, a Nepali national. No other injuries were reported. The Chinese mission expressed its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and conveyed sympathy over the loss of life.

“The Chinese side reiterates that any attack targeting innocent civilians or non-military objectives should be condemned,” the embassy said, emphasizing China’s consistent position against violence directed at civilians.

The statement also urged all parties involved in the regional conflict to immediately cease hostilities, resume communication and dialogue, and take steps to prevent any further escalation that could widen the conflict and endanger civilian lives.

The embassy’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions that have raised security concerns across the Gulf, with governments and diplomatic missions closely monitoring developments and reiterating the need to safeguard civilians and critical infrastructure.

China concluded its statement by stressing the importance of de-escalation through diplomatic engagement, warning against actions that could further destabilize the region.
