The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mohamed Abdel-Gader, received the Ambassador of Egypt to Libya, Tamer El-Hefny, at the Tripoli headquarters of the National Mining Corporation.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary, Ahmed Fadel Badiwi. The meeting was also attended by the Corporation’s Director General, Faraj Al-Shandouli; the Minister’s Advisor for Strategic Planning, Ayman Abu Za’neen; and the Director of the Minister’s Office, Ahmed Sultan.
The Minister welcomed the reactivation of the Egyptian Commercial Representation Office at the embassy, emphasizing the positive impact of this step on advancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides discussed prospects for partnership in industrial development and the exchange of technical expertise. They reviewed the Egyptian experience in managing and operating industrial zones to develop local infrastructure and create an attractive investment environment. The meeting also addressed opportunities for implementing joint projects and encouraging Egyptian investments in sectors such as mining, construction materials, marble and quarrying, and manufacturing industries, thereby contributing to the localization of industry and maximizing the value-added of national resources.
The Minister affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building robust strategic partnerships with Egypt. He noted that this cooperation aims to achieve industrial integration, transfer modern technologies, and stimulate high-quality investments that drive the national economy and create new job opportunities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue coordination through official channels and to formulate a joint work programme involving the relevant authorities. They also agreed to organize technical meetings between institutions and companies from both sides, paving the way for the launch of promising investment projects that would lay the foundations for a sustainable economic partnership between Libya and Egypt.
