The Ministry of Police say they have not been notified of a Samoa National Provident Fund case involving misappropriation of public funds.
Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga told Samoa Global News that they have not been notified of a case, which allegedly involved the misappropriation of public funds by a staff member at National Provident Fund.

According to sources an SNPF clerk from the lending division has been terminated from her position.
It is alleged that at least $100,000 tala is suspected to have been transferred by the former employee to three different bank accounts.
The bank accounts are believed to belong to the office clerk’s close relatives.
According to sources, $70,000 tala was deposited into one account, while two other accounts were deposited $30,000 and $20,000 tala.
The matter came to light when an internal audit uncovered irregularities.
It is alleged the transfers were made into bank accounts belonging to the employee’s nieces and nephews.
As of now it is not yet known whether the matter will be referred to the Ministry of Police for investigation and criminal charges.
