The session was held in the Senate Chamber of the Republic.

The ceremony began with the reading of Senator Miguel Torres’ credentials, after which he was sworn into office. Fernando Rospigliosi administered the oath of office.

The other senators serving on the Board of Congress’ Preparatory Committee were then administered the oath of office.

Fernando Rospigliosi Capurro was the second to be sworn in, following the reading of his credentials accrediting him as a senator.

Alejandro Muñante was also sworn into office. 

The remaining senators were then called in alphabetical order, beginning with Alejandro Aurelio Aguinaga Recuenco.

“I declare the senators of the Republic who have taken the oath of office to be duly sworn in and qualified to exercise their parliamentary duties. Therefore, I declare the Senate of the Republic duly constituted,” Torres Morales stated at the conclusion of the session.

Moreover, the senator announced that the deadline for submitting to the Office of the Senior Clerk the list of candidates for positions on the Senate Board expires on July 25 at 12:00 p.m. 

“The session of the Senate of the Republic’s Preparatory Committee is adjourned. It will resume on July 26 at 12:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing the Senate Board,” he pointed out.

Specifically, the Senate comprises 60 members: Popular Force Party (22), Together for Peru Party (14), Popular Renewal Party (8), Good Government Party (7), Civic Works Party (5), and Now Nation Party (4).

Earlier, Congress’ Preparatory Committee for the 2026-2031 parliamentary term was installed and declared itself in permanent session.
