US issues worldwide caution for citizens as Middle East conflict intensifies

  • The advisory comes as the United States and Iran continue to exchange military strikes, heightening tensions across the region and raising concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime energy corridors.

The U.S. State Department has issued a worldwide caution for American citizens, warning of heightened security risks linked to the escalating conflict in the Middle East and urging travelers to remain vigilant.

In an advisory circulated through U.S. embassies and consulates, the department said the regional security environment remains highly volatile, with the potential for further escalation.

“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for possible flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and travel disruptions,” the advisory said.

The State Department also urged U.S. citizens to closely monitor security alerts issued by American embassies and consulates, follow instructions from local authorities, and stay informed about rapidly evolving developments.

Americans outside the Middle East were advised to reconsider travel to and through the region until the security situation improves.

The department further warned that U.S. diplomatic facilities, including some outside the Middle East, have previously been targeted, adding that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could seek to target additional U.S. interests, facilities or locations associated with American citizens worldwide.

The advisory comes as the United States and Iran continue to exchange military strikes, heightening tensions across the region and raising concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime energy corridors.
