Summer Heat Remains Friday, Through the Weekend

The forecast on Friday will relive a familiar tale across southeast Nebraska. Hot and humid with another chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

Models are struggling to pick up on much in terms of precipitation chances this afternoon. The latest run of StormCast shows mostly sunny skies today, with another chance of isolated showers north of Interstate-80 on Saturday.

Highs in the 90s become more widespread across the state today, with the potential for the middle and upper 90s for northern Nebraska and portions of the panhandle. Heat indices could reach the upper 90s in eastern Nebraska.

Mostly sunny skies today in Lincoln with highs in the lower 90s, alongside a small chance for an isolated shower this afternoon.

Temperatures tonight will fall to the lower to middle 70s in eastern Nebraska, with overnight lows in the 60s out west.

Mostly clear skies are expected for any outdoor plans in the Capital City this evening. Winds will be light and out of the south-southwest.

A toasty weekend is on the way with some of our warmest temperatures of the year in the forecast.

Heat indices are expected to reach the triple digits on Saturday and remain through the weekend.

The heat peaks on Monday, though chances for showers and storms in the northeast corner of the state may try to keep our temperatures in check for the start of next week. Highs return to the 80s with our best chance of showers and storms arriving by the middle of next week.
