Spain rejects claims Russian freighter carried nuclear sub parts to North Korea

The Spanish military has pushed back against claims that a sunken Russian freighter carried nuclear submarine parts bound for North Korea, shedding new light on the Ursa Major’s mysterious cargo while finding no evidence that a military attack caused its sinking.

The Ursa Major’s cargo was for a Russian nuclear icebreaker, not Pyongyang’s submarine program, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles told parliament in May, adding that no authority has attributed the sinking to an attack despite circulating claims.
