VIDEO: Croatia Launches Multi Million Euro Osijek Hospital Project

July the 4th, 2026 – Croatia is launching a multi million euro Osijek Hospital project which will result in the construction of the most modern hospital complex in the country.

Croatia has officially launched the implementation of the new Osijek Hospital (KBC Osijek) project, an investment worth over 800 million euros. It is set to become one of the country’s largest healthcare infrastructure developments by far. The project marks a massive step in the government’s efforts to modernise the national healthcare system on the whole.

Poslovni reports that the first phase of implementation was launched following a working meeting at the Ministry of Health attended by representatives of the Health and Finance ministries, Osijek-Baranja County and KBC Osijek. A market consultation with economic operators is scheduled to begin on Friday, paving the way for the public procurement process.

The construction and equipping of the new hospital building has been included in the Croatian Government’s 2024–2028 programme, underlining its strategic importance for the country’s healthcare system and for strengthening medical services in eastern Croatia. Government backing for the project was formally confirmed on May the 28th, when ministers approved the construction and financing framework, enabling implementation to proceed.

Once completed, the new hospital complex will provide modern clinical facilities, advanced medical technology and improved organisational capacity, while creating better working conditions for healthcare professionals. The investment is also expected to reinforce Osijek’s position as the leading regional healthcare hub in eastern Croatia.

Health Minister Irena Hrstić said the project represented a significant milestone in the modernisation of Croatia’s healthcare infrastructure, adding that it would improve access to high-quality medical care while providing healthcare workers with facilities designed to meet the demands of modern medicine and future generations of patients.

The new Osijek Hospital structure has been presented as one of the largest hospital projects in all of southeast Europe, with earlier project presentations indicating a complex of around 215,000 square metres that will consolidate services currently spread across multiple buildings into a single, state-of-the-art campus.
