Eleven members of the Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA) have embarked on a six-day learning journey to Indonesia, providing students and young professionals with first-hand exposure to regional cybersecurity practices while strengthening international collaboration.
The delegation departed on June 28 for the third edition of the BCSA Overseas Learning Journey (OLJ), which runs until July 3 in Jakarta and Bandung. The programme is organised in collaboration with the Indonesia Network Security Association (IdNSA) and supported by Cyber Security Brunei (CSB).
The Overseas Learning Journey is BCSA’s flagship international capacity-building initiative under the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA), aimed at promoting regional cooperation, cybersecurity skills development and stronger partnerships among government agencies, academia and industry across ASEAN and Japan.
This year’s delegation comprises eight students, one apprentice and two members of the BCSA Executive Committee. The participants include two students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), four from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), two from Laksamana College of Business (LCB), as well as one participant from DMOS Technologies. The delegation is led by BCSA Executive Committee members Saedah Hasnal and Nur Hafizah Matsuni.
Throughout the programme, participants will visit government agencies, cybersecurity organisations, industry partners and higher education institutions in Jakarta and Bandung. The itinerary is designed to provide insights into cybersecurity governance, digital transformation, talent development, industry best practices and international cooperation.

Participants will also engage with cybersecurity professionals, academics and government representatives, allowing them to exchange ideas, gain practical knowledge and build professional networks across the ASEAN cybersecurity community.
BCSA said the programme builds on the success of its previous editions, which saw participants travel to Malaysia in collaboration with RAWSEC and to Singapore in partnership with the Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP).
The association said the annual initiative reflects its continued commitment to creating meaningful international learning opportunities while nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in Brunei Darussalam.
BCSA also acknowledged the support of Cyber Security Brunei for the programme, Indonesia Network Security Association for hosting and coordinating the visits, and EVYD Technology for sponsoring this year’s learning journey.
The association also expressed appreciation to Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Laksamana College of Business and DMOS Technologies for supporting the participation of their students and apprentice.
According to BCSA, the Overseas Learning Journey equips students and young professionals with practical knowledge, international exposure and valuable professional networks that contribute to developing a resilient cybersecurity ecosystem in Brunei Darussalam.
The programme also aims to broaden participants’ understanding of regional governance, innovation ecosystems and professional practices while encouraging cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge exchange across ASEAN.
