In a statement posted Monday on the social media platform X, the ambassador said he met with Syria’s Interior Minister to coordinate final arrangements for the visit of Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi. The ambassador noted that Syria has made rapid progress in the security sector, asserting that the country has “eliminated the threat of partition” and reestablished control over its entire territory after 15 years. He added that while the risk of division can evolve into terrorism-related threats, these concerns were among the central issues discussed during his meeting with the Syrian Interior Minister.

The security talks come on the heels of a series of bilateral meetings focused on reconstruction. Last Thursday, Turkish Ambassador Nuh Yılmaz met with Syrian Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdul Razzaq and Minister of Administrative Development Mohammad Hassan Sakkaf to discuss strengthening institutional cooperation and advancing reconstruction initiatives.

During his meeting with Abdul Razzaq, Yılmaz explored opportunities for collaboration on rebuilding infrastructure, developing safe housing projects, and addressing residential needs. He emphasized Turkey’s readiness to provide technical expertise, regulatory frameworks, and practical experience in large-scale reconstruction. Abdul Razzaq, for his part, said Turkey’s extensive reconstruction efforts following the 2023 earthquake offer a valuable model that Syria can draw upon as it moves forward with its own national rebuilding plans.
