More than 20 tonnes of cocaine have been trafficked from or through Jamaica to Europe so far this year.

That’s over 44,000 pounds!

Director of JCF’s Firearms and Narcotics Division, FNID, Superintendent Patrae Rowe, made the revelation while speaking to George Davis on Nationwide This Morning on Tuesday.

Superintendent Rowe’s comments come ahead of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to be observed on Friday.

He also revealed that Jamaica has been used as a hub for transporting cocaine from Colombia.

But he says law enforcement is working to disrupt that illicit trade route.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Rowe is warning persons against becoming drug mules.

He warns that this is a deadly practice.
