POLICE and education authorities in Sabah are investigating an alleged bullying incident after a video circulated on social media showing a school girl being subjected to what is believed to be abuse at a rural school in Tenom.
The one-minute-and-30-second video, which began circulating on Tuesday, shows the schoolgirl crying while another student is seen pulling the victim’s hair before allegedly bringing the child to a bathroom.
The footage also appears to show the victim being scolded and later taken to a bathroom area where the pupil is instructed to wash their face after crying.
The incident has since sparked public concern after a social media user claimed the episode took place in Tenom and urged authorities to take immediate action.
Sinar Harin reported on Tuesday that Tenom district police chief Superintendent Azmir Abd Razak confirmed that a report has been lodged regarding the incident.
“The report was received this morning and the investigating officer is carrying out investigations. I will provide further updates later,” he said when contacted.
Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin also confirmed that his office has received information on the case and is awaiting a full report.
“I am currently waiting for a complete report on the incident,” he said. – June 23, 2026
