Writer Subhash Chandran
Writer Subhash Chandran has been selected for this year’s P. Kesavadev Literary Award. The 2026 P. Kesavadev Diabscreen Kerala Award, which honours individuals who impart “impactful health education” to society, will be conferred on Thankam Subramonian.
The awards are instituted by the P. Kesavadev Trust.
The literary award recognises the overall contributions of Mr. Chandran “whose works powerfully and eloquently define the postmodern evolution of Malayalam literature,” Jothydev Kesavadev, managing trustee, P. Kesavadev Trust, said in a statement.
Selfless humanitarian service
Dr. Subramonian has been selected for this year’s P. Kesavadev Diabscreen Kerala Award in recognition of “her rare and selfless humanitarian service in donating her kidney to an anonymous patient,” the statement said. “Through her action, she delivered a powerful health education message to society,” it said.
Both awards comprises cash prizes of ₹50,000 each, sculptures designed by B.D. Dathan, and citations of merit.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan will present the awards named after writer Kesavadev on June 17, 2026 at a function planned at Hotel Hilton Garden Inn in Thiruvananthapuram.
