Benghazi prepares to host the Second Conference of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council

Benghazi – Abdullah Al-Masri, head of the Libyan House of Representatives’ Office, met on Monday with Saud Rashid Al-Hajilan, first deputy president of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, and the council’s secretary-general Faiz Al-Shawabkeh to discuss ongoing preparations for the council’s second conference, scheduled to take place in Benghazi later this June.

During the meeting, held at the House office in Benghazi, both sides reviewed organizational and technical aspects of the upcoming event. They also discussed ways to ensure its success so it reflects the significance of the gathering both regionally and internationally.

Al-Fadheel expressed Libya’s pride in hosting the conference. He noted that Benghazi is now ready to host regional and international events, highlighting the city’s progress, stability, and capacity for major gatherings.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Asian and African countries. He said the conference offers an important opportunity to deepen partnerships among member states and to expand areas of coordination and joint efforts that serve mutual interests and support development and peace initiatives.

Benghazi is set to host the second Asian-African Parliamentary Council conference on June 15 and 16, with parliamentary delegations from several Asian and African countries expected to attend.
