Peru’s Foreign Affairs Minister: We will make every effort to ensure voting abroad | Noticias

stated on Friday that his office will make every effort to ensure that the runoff election abroad proceeds normally, prioritizing the opening of all polling stations to voters.

These remarks were made by the government official during an inspection of the Voting Abroad Monitoring Center, which is located at the Ministry’s headquarters in Lima.

“We are making every effort to ensure that the process is carried out in the best possible manner. That is why our ‘Your Vote Crosses Borders’ campaign has been so important, conveying the message that participation in the election is vital for the country’s future,” he said.

In that regard, the Cabinet member indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ priority is to ensure that no polling table abroad remains unopened.

“That is our wish, that is what has been instructed, and that is what all consulates have planned: that no polling station remains unopened,” Pareja pointed out.

“Polling station members have been called upon to fulfill their duty, and volunteer personnel are available in case any of them fail to report,” he added.

Thus, the presidential runoff will be “efficient and carried out in full compliance with all procedures,” he indicated.

At another point, the diplomat explained that the Voting Abroad Monitoring Center will provide support and assistance to Peru’s consular offices throughout the runoff electoral process.

“This center will receive real-time information on the status of polling station installation, the conduct of voting, the progress of the vote count, as well as any incidents and contingencies recorded during Election Day, and finally the transport of electoral materials to polling locations,” Pareja explained.

He also said that the monitoring center will operate continuously, 24 hours a day in four shifts, from Saturday at noon until the close of Election Day.
