Peru 2026 Elections: Executive Branch issues statement ahead of runoff election | Noticias

, on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to and respect for democracy within the framework of the 2026 runoff election to be held this Sunday, June 7, 2026.

In this regard, the government issued a statement outlining the measures it has adopted in fulfillment of its constitutional responsibilities.

The details are as follows:

The Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police have been deployed nationwide to safeguard polling places and electoral materials, in accordance with the Constitution and applicable legislation.

– These actions will continue throughout Election Day and the subsequent stages of the process, including the safeguarding of polling places, ballot boxes, and other electoral materials for the relevant authorities.

– The Executive Branch has timely allocated the necessary budgetary resources for the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), the National Elections Board (JNE), the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), the Armed Forces, and the Peruvian National Police to adequately fulfill the duties assigned to them by law.

– The coordinated work of State institutions contributes to strengthening security, transparency, and public confidence throughout this democratic process.

– We urge citizens to respect the popular will expressed at the ballot box and to act with responsibility and a democratic spirit. The unity of all Peruvians is fundamental to continuing to build a country with stability and opportunities for everyone.
