led an event in Madrid, Spain, aimed at repositioning Peru as a reliable investment destination by presenting to Spanish business leaders a series of infrastructure projects designed to improve Peruvian citizens’ quality of life.
During the “Peru Roadshow – Investment Opportunities in Infrastructure and Public Services,” the government official reaffirmed that this phase seeks to strengthen the South American country’s competitiveness.
“We have presented a very strong portfolio of major projects, including dams, highways, hydroelectric power plants, and railways. As a transitional government, we will work until the last day,” Arroyo underscored, noting that the event received a strong response.
He reported that, for the 2026–2028 period, the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Projects in Assets portfolio overseen by the State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) includes around 97 projects, as well as significant contract amendments, worth over €34 million (above US$39 million).
Regulatory agency heads
Regarding the selection process for candidates to leadership positions at regulatory agencies, the Prime Minister explained that President Jose Maria Balcazar’s Government will limit itself to launching the public merit-based competition, beginning with the curriculum evaluation stage.
“It will be up to the next government to continue with the subsequent stages and designate new proposals. We are not going to appoint anyone whatsoever,” Arroyo indicated.
OECD accession process
The Prime Minister highlighted that, during his working agenda with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in France, representatives of the organization recognized Peru as the country in the region that has made the most progress in its accession process.
“Peru’s accession process to the OECD is approximately 40% complete. This process is about to reach its third year, and we achieved that progress in a relatively short period,” the government’s spokesman stated.
“I believe this is a very encouraging result, and I am confident that the next administration will continue pursuing this objective,” he emphasized.
Security guaranteed throughout elections
Meanwhile, as the Cabinet chief carried out his working agenda in Europe, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) coordinated operational actions with various Executive Branch entities to ensure that the Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police (PNP) provide security at polling places and safeguard election materials.
“This planning effort seeks to contribute to the smooth conduct of the elections scheduled for Sunday, June 7,” the entity concluded.
