Ministers Amadeo Flores (Defense) and Carlos Pareja (Foreign Affairs) visited the National Satellite Imagery Operations Center (CNOIS), the Peruvian Space Agency’s facility in Lima’s Pucusana district.

At the site, the government officials observed the significant contribution of the Peru SAT-1 satellite to aerospace development.

During the tour, both Cabinet members visited the satellite control and image-processing modules.

There, they oversaw the operation of the systems and technological capabilities that enable the acquisition and analysis of strategic information for the Peruvian State.

Likewise, he explained how the images generated by the satellite contribute to sustainable development, sovereignty, and national security.

Over its 10 years of operation, Peru SAT-1 has generated more than 130,000 satellite images, which have been provided free of charge to various public institutions, resulting in savings exceeding S/2.2 billion (above US$644 million) for the Peruvian State.

Thanks to this technological capability, the satellite has established itself as a strategic tool for emergency response, the fight against illicit activities, the protection of natural resources, and territorial planning, providing key information for decision-making for the benefit of the country.
