ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Big Texan’s 72-oz steak challenge will make four New Mexico stops next month as part of the Route 66 Caravan.
The Big Texan challenge centers on a 72-oz steak dinner that participants try to finish in one hour. People who complete it get the meal for free.
Normally one would have to travel to The Big Texan restaurant in Amarillo to take on the challenge. But the Route 66 centennial celebrations are bringing it closer to home for New Mexicans.
The Route 66 Caravan schedule lists its first stop from 5-7 p.m. June 11 at McKinley County Courthouse Square in Gallup.
The second stop will be from 5-7 p.m. June 12 at Historic Microsoft HQ, 6320 Linn Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
The third stop will be from 5-7 p.m. June 13 at Palace of the Governors, 105 W Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
The fourth New Mexico stop is set for 5-7 p.m. June 14 at Blue Hole Convention Center, 1085 Blue Hole Road, Santa Rosa, NM 88435.
