ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Crews responded to the second fire in a month at an abandoned motel near Coors Boulevard and Interstate 40 in Albuquerque.
Around 1:11 a.m. Tuesday, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to reports of an outside fire at what used to be the Motel 6 on Iliff, near Coors. Crews found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor room and brought it under control within about 19 minutes.
According to AFR, they contained the damage mostly to the room. No injuries were reported.
On May 2, 17 days before this most recent fire, AFR responded to a fire at this same location. They arrived at around 10 p.m. that night and extinguished the fire within 15 minutes. There were no injuries.

The City of Albuquerque shut down the motel in early-2025 after identifying it as a hotspot for crime.
