THE remand of two suspects in the murder investigation of a college student found dead with 61 stab wounds in Ketereh has been extended for another seven days.
The extension was granted by Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid, allowing police to continue their probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code until next Thursday. Both suspects, aged 19, had previously been placed under a one-week remand order that expired on Friday.
The case dates back to last Friday, when the body of a 19-year-old female college student was discovered in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, bearing multiple stab wounds in what authorities have described as a brutal killing.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed that the victim was found on a road near a paddy field in the village. He said early investigations indicated that the victim was believed to have been killed at another location before her body was dumped at the scene.
Following the discovery, police initially detained four individuals, including two elderly suspects who are the parents of one of the main suspects. The elderly couple were subsequently released on police bail.
The victim, Nurfisya Zulkifly, 19, was laid to rest at the Kampung Periang Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Kangsar at approximately 5.30am on May 2, following a post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Unit of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu. – May 8, 2026
