Madaba — The Director of Endowments for Madaba Governorate, Dr. Issa Al-Bawarid, confirmed the precautionary closure of the Al-Heidan Mosque in the Dhiban District. The decision was made following soil collapses beneath the structure to ensure the safety of worshippers.اضافة اعلان
In a press statement on Saturday, Al-Bawarid explained that technical opinions suggest the collapses could expand at any moment, potentially leading to the mosque’s collapse. He urged visitors to the Wadi Al-Heidan area to stay away from the site until its safety is officially cleared by relevant authorities.
Official Measures
The District Governor of Dhiban, Bandar Al-Zaben, ordered the immediate closure of the mosque as soon as the collapses occurred. The reopening is contingent upon:
Completion of necessary maintenance and corrective measures.
A personal pledge signed by the mosque’s Imam not to open the facility until all maintenance is finalized.
Cause of the Collapse
The Director of Endowments emphasized that the building’s structure itself is sound. However, the soil collapses beneath it—occurring as temperatures rise following an unprecedentedly heavy rainy season—now threaten the entire integrity of the mosque.
Inspection and Tourism
Technical teams from the Ministry of Public Works and specialized teams from the Ministry of Endowments have visited the site to evaluate the mosque’s safety and determine the necessary course of action.
The Wadi Al-Heidan area is currently experiencing active tourism, with thousands of citizens visiting to enjoy the natural beauty, running water, and lush green landscapes that characterize the location.
