Designated hitter Callen Rebuck highlighted a nine-run top of the third inning with a grand slam, first baseman Bryson Heath smashed a three-run home run and outfielder Lucas Porcelli collected three doubles as visiting Berkeley High School cruised past Stratford High School, 15-5, in a Region 7-5A baseball game Monday, April 20.
The Stags improved to 12-6-2 overall and a league best 8-2 by closing out the Knights in six innings. Heath’s blast in the top of the sixth inning put Berkeley up 15-4.
Stratford dropped to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the region.
Rebuck and Porcelli each finished 4-for-4 at the plate and combined for six RBIs for Berkeley.
Leadoff hitter Dom Longello was 3-for-3 for the Knights and first baseman Jarrett Wagner knocked in two runs.
Berkeley hosts Stratford Wednesday, April 22, and the Knights host the final game of the three-game series Thursday, April 23.
