Update: Flash flood warning affecting Baraga County until early Saturday caused by intense rainfall

An updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 11:16 p.m. EDT in effect until Saturday at 12:15 a.m. EDT for Baraga County.

“At 11:16 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Rapid snowmelt is also occurring and will add to the flooding,” says the weather service. “Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, roadways and other poor drainage and low-lying areas.”
