ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — You can “Swing Fore the House” at a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House New Mexico next Thursday in Albuquerque.
The local Ronald McDonald House is hosting its “Swing Fore the House” fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. at Topgolf. Held at a golf course before, it’s at Topgolf to have more fun and support the nonprofit that provides a warm, loving place for families to stay when they have to travel for their children’s medical care.
“We exist to provide a home away from home for families who have a child being treated at a local medical facility. So whether their child’s been in a car accident, diagnosed with an illness or just even recurring appointments, we help them out by giving them a place to stay, giving them food, giving them community, hopefully helping them feel safe and just relieve some of the burdens that come with it,” said Jessica Wright, CEO of Ronald McDonald House New Mexico.
All of the money from the fundraiser events stays in New Mexico. They have two houses with a total of 51 rooms. It’s because Albuquerque has the only Level 1 trauma center in New Mexico.
“32 out of our 33 counties don’t have enough providers. Everyone’s coming here. So we’re using those funds to take care of them and just help make their life a little easier while they’re going through, quite frankly, a really scary time,” Wright said.
The House is also looking for volunteers to prepare home-cooked meals. Learn more about the House here and in the video above.
