TikTok content creator Lui Vuibureta, known as X-Kon, has been handed a one month and 14 days prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Vuibureta pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching bail at the Magistrate’s Court.
Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili warned that any further offending will result in a custodial sentence.
He was previously convicted by the High Court for making derogatory comments on TikTok about Information Minister Lynda Tabuya in September last year.
The court heard Vuibureta breached bail conditions by failing to deactivate his TikTok account, continuing to post on social media, and not surrendering his passport.
In mitigation, the Magistrate considered that Vuibureta is a first-time offender, pleaded guilty, and showed remorse.
Magistrate Fotofili also warned that social media has become increasingly toxic, stressing that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
