PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) announced Monday that all college classes will be held remotely for the day, and multiple other schools in the state announced plans in the wake of the Brown University shooting.

In a social media post just before 9 a.m., CCRI announced the decision in the wake of Saturday’s deadly shooting at Brown University.

Campuses will remain open for business, according to the post.

The post also emphasized that there are no known threats to CCRI campuses.

Central Falls schools will have an increased police presence, according to the Central Falls School District.

“We have been coordinating closely with Mayor Maria Rivera and the Central Falls Police Department. As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety and preparedness, there will be an increased law enforcement presence across our school campuses as classes resume. We want to emphasize that there is no specific or identified threat to our schools,” read a Facebook post from the district.

In Pawtucket, similar measures are being taken at city schools, according to a statement from the Pawtucket School Department.

The statement reads in part:

“The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety and preparedness, the Pawtucket School Department will have an increased presence of law enforcement across our school campuses as classes resume. This step is being taken proactively and out of an abundance of caution to support a safe and supportive learning environment. We want to emphasize that there is no specific or identified threat to our schools.”
