LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WJTV) – A house fire killed three people in Mississippi, officials said.
The fire occurred at a home in the 2000 block of Brooksville Road around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2.
As firefighters responded to the scene, they spotted a large column of smoke visible from the center of the City of Louisville. When crews arrived, they found a fully involved structure with heavy fire through the roof.
Louisville Fire Chief Robert Hutto said several bystanders from a nearby construction site had already broken windows on the east side of the home, reporting that victims might be in the bedrooms.

Firefighters entered two bedrooms through the east side windows. Hutto said one firefighter located an unresponsive victim in the back bedroom, and the victim was passed out through the window to waiting responders, who began CPR.
EMS arrived on scene and took over medical care of the rescued victim, who was transported to Winston Medical Center and later airlifted to a hospital in the Jackson area. However, the victim was pronounced deceased later that evening.
Hutto said two other victims, an adult and a minor, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined. The investigation has been turned over to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
“Our hearts are heavy for the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy,” said Hutto. “We are incredibly grateful to our firefighters, EMS teams, and volunteer departments for their bravery and quick response under extremely hazardous conditions.”
