Two Unaccompanied Minors Returned from Russia to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Two underage citizens of Uzbekistan who were left without parental care have been returned from Russia to Uzbekistan, the National Agency for Social Protection reported.

According to the agency, together with specialists from the children’s social shelter Transit, the minors were transported from St. Petersburg to Tashkent. Upon arrival, they were placed in the Social and Legal Assistance Centers for Minors under the capital’s Department of Internal Affairs.

One of the children was handed over to his mother, who resides in Tashkent. The second, accompanied by law enforcement officers, was taken to his place of residence, where he was reunited with relatives and his brother. It is noted that the boy’s brother had earlier been returned to Uzbekistan after violating rules of stay in the Russian Federation.

In the near future, both minors are expected to be placed with a foster family prepared by the Inson Social Services Center at their place of residence.

The agency emphasized that since the beginning of 2025, a total of 61 underage citizens of Uzbekistan have already been repatriated. In addition, between August and September, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Health, about 20 more minors are expected to be returned, where they will receive assistance with reintegration into a family environment.
