“Mystery Shoppers” to Begin Monitoring Umrah Tour Operators In Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will introduce the practice of checking Umrah trip organizers through the use of “mystery shoppers.” This was reported by the press service of the Committee on Religious Affairs.

According to the committee, its employees will pose as ordinary clients when contacting tour operators to assess the availability of licenses, travel conditions, pricing, and payment methods. If necessary, these “undercover” customers will be able to make covert audio or video recordings.

These measures are expected to help promptly identify illegal organizers and prevent violations of pilgrims’ rights. If instances of unlawful activity are confirmed, the materials will be forwarded to law enforcement agencies or serve as grounds for an official inspection.
