Tanzila Narbaeva Discusses Migration and Anti-Trafficking Efforts with UN IOM Representative

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva held a meeting in the city of Avaza with Pierre Lilljert, Head of the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission.

The IOM representative noted that Uzbekistan was among the first countries to support international agreements aimed at building a global system for safe, orderly, and regular migration.

He also commended the recent international conference “Global Challenges in Combating Human Trafficking: The Role of Society and International Cooperation”, organized on July 30 by the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Promoting Decent Work, ahead of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

During the talks, the sides discussed measures to support Uzbek citizens temporarily working abroad and their families, as well as ways to expand cooperation in combating human trafficking. Particular attention was given to improving legislation and developing effective mechanisms to ensure employment and protect the rights of citizens amid ongoing global migration processes.
