SCOTTLAND FC joined Black Rhinos in the history books of Zimbabwean football after winning the 2025 Premier Soccer League title in their debut season.
Colloquially known as “Mabviravira”, the new champions sealed their title-winning run with a 5-1 victory over Kwekwe United at Ascot Stadium in Gweru, Midlands province.
The victory saw Scottland FC pull a 41-year record set by army side Black Rhinos in 1984 when they won the league championship in their debut season.
Owned by flamboyant businessman Pedzisai “Scott” Sakupwanya, Scottland FC has secured the title with two games to spare as they are now on 65 points, seven points ahead of second-place occupier MWOS F.C.
Scottland FC opened the scoring account of the game in the 27th minute through Khama Billiat’s volley shot, before Tymon Machope doubled the lead five minutes later to give the side a healthy 2-0 lead.
Coming back in the second half, Mabviravira could have at least scored five more goals, but the Kwekwe United goalkeeper gave his best to ensure they lost the match by a respectable margin.
After several missed opportunities by Machope, Scottland FC finally scored, courtesy of Ronald Pfumbidzayi’s header in the 70th minute.
However, the home side quickly responded through Takudzwa Chimhowa, who fired in a shot for Kwekwe United to make it 3-1.
To seal the scoreline Scottland FC substitute, 16-year-old Tadiwanashe Chakuchichi scored his debut PSL goal in the 86th minute to make it 4-1 before Machope’s second goal of the day from the spot in the 93rd minute.
