RISING Afro-fusion music outfit All In One is on a mission to make history after booking a spot to represent Mashonaland West province at the 2025 Chibuku Road to Fame national finals.

The Chinhoyi-based group proved unstoppable in the provincial finals held last weekend, outclassing rivals Boom Jazz and Nhapi Tapi, who settled for second and third place, respectively.

Formed in February last year by founder Last Shapo, All In One comprises eight members – Shapo, Tinashe Zambu, Tafadzwa Nyama, Tendai Dzapasi, Elvin Samanyika, Ngonidzashe Muwawa, Jossy Manhiva and Nyasha.

Speaking after their victory, Shapo said the band was inspired by the untapped musical talent within their hometown and the success stories of established acts.
“What sparked the group was the talent in our community and seeing how others are making a living through music. We drew inspiration from Jah Prayzah and Mbeu, whose culture-rich sounds reflect who we are as Zimbabweans,” he said.
Shapo described winning the provincial title as a milestone achievement for the relatively new outfit.
“Being crowned champions in Mashonaland West is our first major accolade. It means a lot to us, considering we started just last year,” he said.

However, the journey has not been without challenges.
“Finances have been our biggest hurdle. We lacked resources to acquire instruments, but we kept pushing,” added Shapo.

The group is intensifying rehearsals ahead of the national showdown, determined to make Chinhoyi proud.
“As the director, I compose and coordinate songs with the team, but everyone contributes creatively. We’ve learnt that patience and persistence pay off,” Shapo said.

The band has big ambitions beyond the competition.
“Through this group, we aim to create employment for youths and steer them away from drugs. Winning Chibuku Road to Fame will give us nationwide exposure and open doors for our careers,” he added. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
