THE Zambian government has declared Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, a public holiday to coincide with the swearing-in ceremony for the President-Elect and Vice-President-elect.

According to a statement signed by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick K. Kangwa, the ceremony will be held at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. The announcement follows an earlier notice issued Aug. 25, 2026.

Kangwa said the President declared the inauguration day a public holiday.

The statement also urged invitees to carpool because of limited parking at the stadium.
