ZAMBIAN immigration officials have arrested a 44-year-old man accused of posting hate speech and insults against the President on TikTok.

In a statement issued by Namati Nshinka, Chief Public Relations officer for the Department of Immigration, he told Mwebantu that Misheck Mulubwa, who posts under the name “Brotherman” with the handle @KabongoKitungu5, was apprehended Sept. 12 in Kasumbalesa during a joint operation with other defense and security wings.

Authorities allege Mulubwa repeatedly used social media to publish content insulting the President and the Presidency, as well as content containing tribal and hate speech.

Preliminary investigations indicate Mulubwa had been living on the Democratic Republic of Congo side of the border and occasionally crossed into Zambia, according to the department.

Mulubwa was taken to Lusaka following his arrest and is expected to be formally charged. Further details will be released as the investigation continues, the department said.
