Premier League defending champions Liverpool edged Arsenal 1-0 at Anfield, courtesy of a spectacular 30-yard free kick from Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian midfielder’s curling strike dipped over the Arsenal wall and flew into the top corner past a diving David Raya, sending the Anfield crowd into raptures.

In a match reported by the Indian Express, the victory ensures Liverpool head into the international break with the league’s only perfect record, sitting top of the table with nine points from three matches, two points clear of Chelsea.

Arsenal, meanwhile, remain third with six points after suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

The Gunners endured an early setback when defender William Saliba limped off injured and was replaced by Mosquera inside the opening five minutes.

Liverpool made one change to their lineup, with Alexis Mac Allister starting ahead of Curtis Jones, while Arsenal introduced Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino in place of Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.

Both sides had started the season strongly, each winning their opening two fixtures.

However, Arne Slot’s Liverpool, despite showing resilience to come from behind in their first two matches, will look to address defensive lapses that have left them vulnerable early in games.

By contrast, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal had kept clean sheets in both of their opening matches before this setback.

Historically, the rivalry remains tight: in 73 league meetings, Liverpool have now won 26 times, Arsenal 20, with the rest ending in draws.
