Copperbelt Minister, Elisha Matambo, has announced that President Hakainde Hichilema will undertake a two-day working visit to the Copperbelt Province, while assuring the public that government was closely monitoring the erratic diesel supply in the region.
Speaking during a media briefing in Ndola on Thursday, Matambo said the President’s visit will take place this weekend, with engagements lined up in Mpongwe and Kitwe.
“President Hichilema will be on the Copperbelt for a two-day visit. On Saturday, he will officiate at the 120th anniversary commemoration of the Baptist Church in Mpongwe, and on Sunday he will attend a church service in Kitwe before officially opening the newly constructed United Party for National Development (UPND) Copperbelt Secretariat,” Matambo stated.
He added that the Head of State will also meet with party officials in the province.

On the fuel situation, Matambo assured motorists that there was no need to panic, as the government had put in place measures to normalize supply.
“The situation is under control. We are monitoring the supply chain to ensure that diesel remains fully stocked and steady across the province,” he said.
Matambo further called on the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to increase the number of maize-buying depots in the Copperbelt, in order to give more farmers access to the market.
