POLICE in Lusaka are investigating an incident in which an unidentified Chinese national allegedly fired shots at a vehicle occupied by a Chinese couple at KK Mall.
The incident occurred on February 1, 2026, around 22:30 hours at Yun Ding Bar, located at KK Mall in Longacres.
Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said Li Zhong Cheng, aged 38 and a resident of Longacres, reported that the incident happened while he was at the bar with his wife and brother.
Mr Chilabi said trouble began when an unidentified Chinese male was leaning on Mr Li’s white Toyota Prado, registration number AJF 997.
He said when Mr Li’s wife, identified as Wang Li, asked the man to move so that they could drive away, the suspect allegedly made an obscene remark, which led to a physical altercation.
Mr Chilabi said security officers at the mall intervened and instructed Mr Li to leave the premises.
“While driving away, an unidentified male jumped onto the bonnet of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it from leaving. Mr Li reportedly heard gunshots and immediately drove off,” Mr Chilabi said.
He said preliminary investigations indicate that as the vehicle reached the second car park, another unidentified person, suspected to be a Chinese national, allegedly fired shots at the vehicle.
“Police inspection revealed that the vehicle sustained four gunshot impacts. No injuries were reported,” he said.
Mr Chilabi said the scene was processed and investigations into the matter are ongoing, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
