TONSE Alliance President Brian Mundubile has suspended Secretary General Zumani Zimba from his position with immediate effect.

Tonse Alliance National Chairman Davies Mwila confirmed the suspension while addressing the media after visiting Mr Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, at Mukobeko Maximum Prison.

Mr Mwila said the alliance supported the decision.

“We hope that all Tonse Alliance and BM-ECL Movement supporters will support this decision,” he said.

According to Mr Mwila, statements attributed to Dr Zimba were made in his personal capacity because he did not consult alliance leadership before issuing them.

Mr Mwila also said prison authorities allowed the party leadership to visit Mr Mundubile, Mr Zulu and 18 others.

He said the detainees were in high spirits and doing well.

“I wish to inform all members that President Brian Mundubile is in high spirits and, health-wise, he is doing fine. Makebi Zulu and the 18 others are also doing fine,” Mr Mwila said.

He appealed to members to remain calm and await the release of Mr Mundubile, Mr Zulu and the other 18 detainees.
