Authorities in Northern Province have disclosed that Mpulungu District has recorded 72 suspected cholera cases, with 29 confirmed positive.
In a statement issued by the Northern Province Public Relations Unit on Saturday, Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu said of the confirmed cases, 19 were Zambian nationals while 10 were from neighbouring Tanzania.
“One death has been reported, involving a Tanzanian national,” Mpundu said.
He assured that government was implementing decisive measures to contain the outbreak.

Mpundu also clarified that contrary to circulating rumours, no cholera cases had been recorded in Mbala District.
He explained that all suspected cases there were confirmed to be typhoid.
